Ingredients for a 1/2 Gallon:
1 Scoby Mushroom
1/2 Gallon Glass Jar
1/2 Cup White Sugar
6 cups Purified Water or filtered water that you've boiled
4 Black Tea bags or 2 Tablespoons loose black tea
A medium sized non-metal mesh strainer
Glass bottles with tight fitting, non-metal lids (Amount of bottles and size will vary depending on how much Kombucha you make and how many different flavors you want, if any)
Paper Towels and Rubber Bands
Fruit or fruit juice if flavoring
1 Gallon Distilled White Vinegar (For cleaning)
Note for the above pic: This is a Scoby mushroom. Most of them are not this 'Pretty' so don't be alarmed when the new Scoby 'Babies' form and they do not look this uniform.

Directions:
The day or night before you want to make a new (Or first) batch:
Add ½ cup of white sugar to a glass ½ gallon Jar. Boil 3 cups of water and add it to the sugar in the 1/2 gallon jar, stir until sugar is dissolved. Bring 3 more cups of water to a boil in a pot, once water comes to boil, add loose tea or tea bags and turn off heat, steep tea for 10 minutes up to an hour. Remove tea bags or strain loose tea and add tea water to the ½ gallon jar with dissolved sugar water in it. Cover with clean cloth or paper towels and leave mixture overnight to completely cool.
Note: It is very important that the sugar tea mixture is not hot when the Scoby and starter tea are added to it, that is why I let it cool over night. However, as soon as the sugar tea is at room temperature it is safe to add them.
