What is 'Birthday Week' you ask? I will tell you what it is not, and that is an excuse to act like a spoiled brat all week, I swear. I am making this clear right away because once I told someone how much I love to celebrate my birthdays for a whole week, and she promptly replied by saying, "I hate you" with a dead pan look on her face. While I completely understand this reaction from someone who is not 'Pro Birthday Week", it made me realize that I had better start doling out real justification for celebrating what I have come to consider a very underrated tradition.
The undisputed truth is that I have always loved not only my birthdays, but all birthdays everywhere, equally. Such a cool ritual, marking year after year a persons existence. Oh! And I love that there is usually some type of yummy dessert involved. Speaking of which, an odd thing about me, especially in light of my being Pro Birthday Week, I am not actually a huge fan of cake. Sounds blasphemous I know, but I'm much more of a cookie or chocolate kind of person. I rectify this though, by making my birthday cakes as far away from plain white cake with white frosting, as I possibly can.
Regardless, birthdays are a celebration of life and my favorite things in life are food, friends and family. In the past, I have found that it has been hard for me to realistically bring all of these things together in one 24 hour period of time. Solution, Birthday Week.
Anyway, it's too late for me to go back now, I'm hooked. I've even considered adding another bonus day, every Birthday Week after this year, I'm out of control!
